Community Fundraising EffortsIn the fall of 1999 the Corinthians joined forces with the Y-Knot Sailing Program to help run the Y-Knot Regatta, a fruitful union that has only grown larger and stronger over the years. In addition to working together on sailing clinics and the now-annual Y-Knot Regatta, the Corinthians launched the Y-Knot Challenge in conjunction with the long-distance Ti Race to raising funds for the purchase of a Martin 16, the adaptive one-design sailboat that has revolutionized sailing for those with physical disabilities. In support of the Y-Knot Challenge, individual yachts are encouraged to seek sponsorship for their participation in the race. Every yacht that raises at least $100 in sponsorship will be entered in the competition for the Y-Knot Challenge Cup, a perpetual trophy awarded for outstanding performance in both sailing and fundraising. Skippers will receive a commemorative T-shirt for each $100 raised. Businesses and individuals who are generous enough to lend their support at the Gold ($500), Silver ($250) and Bronze ($100) level will be recognized as event sponsors in the official race program and in other promotional and marketing materials. |
