6. A Valid Measurement Certificate and a 2009 J/24 Class Transom Sticker are required. Crew weight may be requested and/or inspected at any time at the discretion of the race committee.
7. Sailing Instructions will be available at check-in.
8. Bow Numbers determined by the order of receipt of entries, will be furnished to each competitor. The numbers shall be affixed on both port and starboard sides of the bow in accordance with Bow Number Instructions.
9. Courses The courses will be windward/leeward with 3 or 5 legs. Offset marks at the weather mark and gates at the leeward mark will be used.
10. Penalties. The Scoring Penalty, RRS 44.3, will apply and will be modified such that flag “I” is acceptable and the flag must have a hoist of not less than 150 mm and a fly of not less than 200 mm. Rule 61.1(a) will be modified such that the protest flag must have a hoist of not less than 150mm and a fly of not less than 200 mm. The Race Committee may also announce the numbers of the boats that have broken starting rules via VHF radio. Mediation will be used prior to hearings for protests involving RRS Part 2
11. Scoring The scoring system will be as follows: The Low Point System defined in RRS Appendix A as modified herein. Seven races will be scheduled. A minimum of three completed races are required to constitute a championship. When fewer than five races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores. When five or more races have been sailed, a boat/s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.
12. Waste Disposal or discharge of waste, human or otherwise, is illegal and will be considered misconduct under RRS Part 5, in addition to fines and/or penalties as prescribed by the Lake George Park Commission and the Warren County Sheriff’s Department.
13. Personal Flotation is highly recommended for all competitors, due to water temperatures.
14. Launching of boats arriving before 9:00 pm on Friday, October 2, will take place Friday evening. Late arrivals shall be launched between 7.30 am and 8.30 am by prior arrangement with the Regatta Chairman. Boats shall not be hauled out during the regatta except with the permission of the race committee, jury or the Regatta Chairman.
15. Haul-Out Sequence at the end of the regatta is designated by the assigned bow numbers.
16. Radio Communications Marine VHF radio channel 72 may be used to communicate with the fleet. A boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.
17. Prizes will be given to the helmsman and crew of the top five finishers. Helmsman-only awards to boats 6-10 place. There will also be a Best Visiting Fleet Award.
18. Disclaimer of Liability Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk (see RRS 4, Decision to Race). The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
19. Insurance Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of $300,000 per event or the equivalent.
