1. Rules. The regatta will be governed by the 2005-08 Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), the prescriptions of US Sailing, the Class Rules of the International J/24 Class Association (IJCA), the Notice of Race (except as any of these are altered by the sailing instructions) and by the 2008 Sailing Instructions. The regatta is designated Category “C.”

2. J/24 Class Boats as defined by the IJCA are eligible. All boats must have completed registration and paid all fees with the regatta organizing authority before becoming official competitors.

Pursuant to rule 64.1, with reference to the ISAF eligibility code, regulation 21.2.1(h); the penalty for violation by a crew member, shall be a warning.

3. Advanced Registration is highly recommended by completing the entry form and sending it to the regatta chairman. Advanced registrations shall be received no later than 9/1/08. Late registrants will be charged a late fee of $25. All boats shall submit the entry form BEFORE LAUNCHING. A maximum of 60 boats outside of Fleet 24 is set.

5. A Valid Measurement Certificate and a 2008 J/24 class transom sticker are required. Crew weight may be requested and/or inspected at any time at the discretion of the race committee.

6. Sailing Instructions will be available at check-in.

7. Courses and the number of races (consisting of at least three with as many as six), and the length, shall be determined by the race committee as prescribed in the sailing instructions.

8. The Start. RRS 26 will be in effect for all starts. Code flag I will not be displayed. RRS 30.3 may be used. The race committee expects to identify a considerable number of, if not all, premature starters. Any general recalls will be signaled in accordance with RRS 29.2.

9. Penalties. RRS 44.2 (720 Turns Penalty will apply).

10. Protest Jury Chair. Pending.

11. The Low-Point Scoring System, RRS Appendix A, as modified herein, will be used (SI 16.1). Six races are scheduled of which three shall be completed to constitute a series. All will be scored, no throw-outs (SI 16.2).

12. Waste Disposal or discharge of waste, human or otherwise, is illegal and will be considered misconduct under RRS Part 5, in addition to fines and/or penalties as prescribed by the Lake George Park Commission, Warren County Sheriff’s Department and U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.

13. Personal Flotation is highly recommended for all competitors, due to water temperatures.

14. Launching of boats arriving before 9:00 PM on Friday (9/26) will take place Friday evening. Once a boat is launched it shall stay in the water, except with Race Committee approval.

15. Haul-Out at the end of the regatta is designated by the assigned bow numbers.

16. Awards will be given to the helmsman and crew of the top five finishers. Helmsman-only awards to boats 6-10 place. There will also be a Best Visiting Fleet Award.
