A perfect breeze on a perfect day propelled the LGCYC fleet from the start line near Yankee to Sabbath Day Point and back in under six hours. Congratulations to Nate Dickinson and his crew. Check out the complete results. This was the last race of the season for the Corinthians, and this week also marks the end of both Wednesday night racing and Lake George Club Saturday racing. On to September and regatta season!Labels: Corinthians

OK, so you can actually use two hands, as long as they both belong to you... The always-popular Corinthian Single-Handed Race will be held this Sunday at 1 pm. Sam Walters on Happy Days is RC and will be on station at 12:30 pm. This is a PHRF race open to all sailboats, and you can fly your spinnaker if you're up to it. (Don't forget the shock cord for the tiller...) Skippers are required to wear a life jacket and must tie a safety line to the stern of the boat that trails at least 20 feet aft. Two simple rules, but important ones — just ask Dave Dougall.Labels: Corinthians
A beautiful day, good breeze and a nice turnout for the Corinthians' Women on the Helm Race. An "I" course was set, twice around with Hogback as the windward mark and an orange mark dropped north of the Lake George Club as a leeward buoy. Unfortunately, there were two or three identical orange marks dropped for an Opti event at the club, which seemed to cause a bit of confusion during the first downwind leg for some of the racers. More photos are posted on Flickr (Jako never looked so good!) and results are posted here.Labels: Corinthians

Bill Dutcher's J/22 Joy won in the Spinnaker fleet of the 35th Annual Lake George / Ticonderoga Race. Happy Days took the non-Spinnaker fleet, Revolution won the Sprint fleet, and Triceratops took the multi-hull fleet. Check out the complete results, and photos from the start by Trish McCluskey. A total of 18 boats competed in the four fleets. The race began with a breeze out of the southeast, and remained light and shifty all the way up the lake. Other than the short upwind leg at the start to round the north Canoe Island mark, the race was virtually all reaching, both up and down the lake. Many wind-less patches on the lake early, and then evening brought a few storms and accompanying big gusty winds. All boats finished by 11 pm.Labels: Corinthians

The 34th Lake George / Ticonderoga Race was marked by extremely light wind for the first four hours at the southern end of the course, better breeze up north, and a return to light and variable down south on the way home. Spencer Raggio on Wild Thing won in the spinnaker fleet, with crew Dennis Hudson and Tom Selfridge. Mossy Log was first in the non-spinnaker fleet, and Gypsy won in the multihull fleet. Complete results, and some photos from the awards ceremony courtesy of Dennis Hudson.Labels: Corinthians
