LGCYC Board Meeting
January 9, 2001
Attendance: Herm Lintner, Bill Morris, Bob Rippel, Spencer Raggio,
Kim Andrews, Maryellen Rudolph, Dave Dougall, John Brodie
1. Getting organized
Future meetings will be held on the second Tuesday of each month
at 6:30 at Starbucks in Saratoga Springs. Next meeting February
13. Herm requested that you contact him if unable to attend.
2. Financial Report
Kim Andrews reported that the final balance in the account
is $1863.17. Kim requested some clarification on NYS racing/regatta
permit purchase. She requested that the committee chairs prepare
their budget items.
The 2001 budget will be presented in March.
A final 2000 budget was not available at the meeting.
3. Events
Deb Katz suggested a Corinthian ski day. Bob will check with Windham
Ski Area regarding their disabled ski program. In this way, some
members of the Y-Knot group may be interested in joining. Bob will
contact Deb.
4. Communications
Bill Morris reported that he would be preparing nine issues
of the Corinthian Newsletter. Each newsletter will include a calendar,
membership list, race results and other issues of importance.
He proposed a budget of $700-800.
Bill will also take responsibility for the computerized membership
list.
Need for postcard reminders. This was rejected due to the
proposed number of newsletters.
Spencer will continue to update the website. Committee chairs
are requested to send information.
Bulletin board outside Yankee. Herm will discuss with Kevin
Joyce.
Membership renewal forms will be available in March.
It was suggested that posters and brochures be available
at all the marinas.
5. Membership
Buck Brian and Greg Liberatore will be responsible for the distribution
of the brochures. A membership form is included in the brochure.
Herm will discuss distribution with Buck and Greg.
6. Race Committee
Early/late racing series. We will continue this year.
Tentative schedule was developed and will be finalized in
February.
May 19 opening; the membership committee will organize this
event.
June 2 clinic and practice
June 9 first race
June 16 Ti race
Sept. 7 Tanzer 22 Regatta, North Americans
Sept. 15 J/22
Sept. 22 Alexanderson Cup
Sept. 29 J/24
Wednesday racing will begin in mid May
Bob reported that the equipment is in good condition, but
they'll be replacing a flag that is missing. We will continue rotating
the committee boat. The schedule will be developed and sent out
to the members
Bob will be purchasing containers to hold the gear.
7. Ti Race
No report. Chuck Thorne will be organizing committee meetings. Corinthians
may need to organize procedures with YMCA/Y-Knot on the administration
of contributions, i.e. accounting and timely responses to contributors.
8. Cruises events
Bob reported that the participation at cruise events has been limited.
We will continue to discuss what the members are interested in picnic,
overnight, etc. Herm will contact Rich Hegney to set up a plan.
9. Y-Knot
Dave has a contact with the Lake George Rotary Club and has referred
the information to Rebecca Stanley for follow-up.
10. Tanzer 22 North Americans (Dave Dougall)
Expecting approximately 12 boats. They will be launched
on Friday with seven races scheduled Saturday and Sunday. A barbecue
will be planned on Sept. 7.
He is requesting a committee boat and a run-about boat as
well as members for a protest committee. He will be contacting Capri
Village and Yankee for dock space and launching.
Dave will request help from Deb Katz to arrange for caterers
for the barbecue.
11. Sailing Classes
Kim reported that the classes will be held at the Adirondack
Trust Building in the Community Room which is in the basement (elevator
accessible) at 112 South Broadway in Saratoga Springs.
The classes will be held on the five Mondays in April. The
fee will be $25. She requested and received permission to use the
Corinthian post office box for return responses. We will not utilize
materials from the YMCA.
She is looking for speakers and reported that she would be
requesting finances to purchase ropes.
12. Other
A gift certificate for dinner was given to the Brodies as a thank
you from the Corinthians.
