LGCYC Board Meeting

April 11, 2000

Members present: Vice Commodore Herm Lintner, Treasurer Steve McClintic, Secretary Stacy McClintic, Race Committee Chair Chuck Thorne, Membership Chair Buck Bryan

Called to order at 1845 at Starbucks in Saratoga Springs.

March 14, 2000 Meeting Minutes were accepted.

Membership Committee: Buck asked that everyone use the appropriate title of "committee chairperson" versus "committee director" as required by our bylaws. Madelyn will get a bid for printing our new LGCYC brochure. The brochure then will be used to provide general information as well as membership information about the Club.

Social Committee: Deb was unavailable to attend today's meeting but she forwarded a tentative schedule of planned social events. The opening event is scheduled for June 11, 2000 at Camp Chingachgook, starting at 1:30 pm with snacks and drinks, land instruction tentatively 2-3:30 pm, 3:30 to 5:30 pm sail, and 6:00 pm dinner/bbq at the camp. Deb requests ideas for the Fall Banquet.

Ti Race: A brochure for soliciting sponsors for this year's Ti Race to benefit Y-Knot Sailing Club has been completed. The Ti Race Trophy has been re-named the Brodie Cup in honor of Bob and Sheila Brodie and their many years of support for this race. Chuck will write a dedication for the Brodie Cup. The Race (and associated social events) will be held June 16-18. All social events for this race will be held at Yankee Boating Center.

Newsletter: The first newsletter of the season will go out May 1, 2000 per Madelyn.

Race Committee: Sunday race dates are June 25, July 9, July 23, August 13, August 27, Sept 10. The Single-Handed and Women's Race will be held on July 30. Cruise dates are July 15, August 5 and August 19 (all Saturdays). The Around the Islands Regatta will be September 9.

Chuck suggested adding "tick boxes" to membership forms for routing. Route: Box 188 to treasurer, to enter in database and produce mailing labels for newsletter. The treasurer will send the labels to the Newsletter Committee and then send membership forms to the membership committee. Membership committee will send out welcome letters to new members.

Treasurer's Report: Madelyn and Chuck will obtain records from past treasurer. Steve will then construct tentative budget for review at May meeting.
