Corinthian News: January 2001
Commodore's Notes
by Herm Lintner
Greetings Corinthians! Our kickoff plans for the Lake George
Corinthian Yacht Club season are already underway. Despite our current
weather, your committees have forecast favorable sailing winds for
all Corinthian activities. Thus, we have begun to formulate events
and activities for the 2001 season. An initial framework of known
dates can be found in this newsletter.
We resolve to help you obtain timely updates and more details via
three alternatives: 1) frequent newsletters, 2) the LGCYC website,
and 3) a planned outdoor bulletin board at Yankee Boating Center.
Please make special note of the "pre-on-the-water" plans for the
March ski social and sailing courses in April.
A key ingredient in all events is your participation and feedback
as to your interests, questions, and concerns. We invite your calls,
email and letters. You may contact me at:

Fax : (518) 346-5963
E-mail: lintherm@msn.com
Mail: 1309 Rosehill Blvd., Niskayuna NY 12309
We look forward to your active involvement and seeing you soon.
Most Improved Sailor Award
Buck Bryan received the award for Most Improved Sailor in 2000
from the Lake George Corinthian Yacht Club. In addition to racing
a J/24, Quick Return, in the spinnaker division, Buck has
been an enthusiastic supporter of many activities in the Club, including
boosting membership and overnight cruise events. Congratulations,
Buck!
Two Opportunities for A Partnership in a Sailboat
LGCYC member Bob Ewell has an S2 7.9 and he is looking for someone
interested in a partnership in his boat. He figures the cost would
be about $2500 per year. Bob does most of his sailing during the
week, so the boat would be available most weekends. Contact Bob
at 518-885-0022.
Roy Roecker, a former member of LGCYC, is looking for 4 to 5 people
to form a partnership to take over ownership of his 30 ft. Hunter
sail boat. The boat would continue to be berthed at a dock outside
his condo in Deerfield Beach Florida (Miami area). Transit time
from the dock to the ocean is about 35 minutes. The cost per share
would be $19,500 divided by the number of shares, and he would have
one share for himself. He estimates that the annual expenses would
run around $4500 (insurance, dock rental, maintenance, etc.), and
this would be divided up among the shareholders. It sounds like
a good deal if you would like to do an annual Florida sailing vacation.
Contact Roy Roecker at 390 N. Fed Hwy #401, Deerfield Beach, FL,

The LGCYC Board met on January 9, 2001, and the new season seems
to be off to a good start. My goal is to get out approximately nine
newsletters during the year to keep the members informed on activities,
event dates and race results. A high priority is to publish a membership
list, perhaps in the next issue. If you have any items for publication,
or suggestions for improvement, please contact me.
The Governing Board, Committee Chairs and Officers have a regularly
scheduled meeting to discuss LGCYC business the second Tuesday of
every month at Starbucks in Saratoga Springs. All members are encouraged
to attend. The next meeting is scheduled for February 13, 2001 at
6:30 PM.
