The 2nd Annual Lake George Night Navigator Race

The 2006 Lake George Corinthian Yacht Club’s Lake George Night Navigator Race is open to all eligible sailboats. Membership in the LGCYC is not required. The race starts at 19:00 (7:00 pm) at the U6 buoy at Hogback Reef in Bolton.

Equipment Specifications are listed in the Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions.

THE NIGHT NAVIGATOR RACE WILL CONSIST OF A SINGLE PHRF FLEET, AND IS DESIGNED TO TEST THE NAVIGATION AND NIGHT SAILING SKILLS OF THE PARTICIPATING VESSELS ON A LONG DISTANCE COURSE.

THE RACE WILL COMMENCE AT 19:00 ON SEPTEMBER 15th FROM HOGBACK REEF, PROCEED THROUGH THE NARROWS AND MOTHER BUNCH TO A TURNING POINT AT SABBATH DAY POINT, THEN RETRACE THE ROUTE BACK THE STARTING LINE TO FINISH.

THIS WILL NECESSITATE SAILING DURING NIGHT HOURS, TESTING NOT ONLY SAILING SKILLS BUT NIGHT NAVIGATION SKILLS AS WELL. DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE RACE, SPECIAL RULES WILL BE IN PLACE TO ASSURE THE SAFETY OF VESSELS AND CREWS.

TO PARTICIPATE, ALL BOATS MUST COMPLY WITH THE SAILING RULES AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR THIS RACE.

THE RACE IS OPEN TO ALL ENCLOSED SAILBOATS WITH PERMANENT BERTHS (NO DAY SAILORS OR OPEN MULTIHULLS). JOIN US FOR A WEEKEND OF FUN AND CAMARADERIE AS YOU TEST YOUR SAILING SKILLS.
