[LG-list] It was a Spectacular Wednesday Night

What a spectacular view it must have been for those on shore witnessing one of the biggest local fleets in years to gather for a casual Wednesday Night race. It sure was an awesome view from our vantage point too with boats stretched out from LGC to Diamond Island. The competition is certainly getting tougher among the 14 J/24s, which dominated the fleet on Wednesday. Here's the results from Race 11: http://www.lakegeorgeracing.com/results.aspx?series=36 . Let's welcome a new J/24 to Fleet 24, Dark Waters with Brian Larkin on the helm from Canoe Island Lodge. 
 
If there was a contest for the RC with the most boats competing in a race, Tom Selfridge would be in the lead with 26! What's wild is there are at least 4-5 boats that normally race that weren't out there. Could next week's RC, Sam Hoopes top Tom's 26 boat fleet? If there was a contest I bet Sam would be on the phone calling his fellow J/22 sailors. We'll see you next Wednesday. 
 
Tom was confident that there was enough wind at the start to send us to Diamond, back to the LGC harbor marker and finish in the middle, but he had to shorten the course. Good call as the leaders cheered with glee, and again with the chant, "SoCo", but this time they finished with an impressive 3rd. It was still a 2-hour race for some. Crackerjack was the fastest right from start and then held it downwind to the shortened finish. Susan Brodie will be submitting their own rendition of how they did it (we'll believe her), with embellishment from Jon. Oh boy!
