[LG-list] Wednesday's Results

Crackerjack starts off the second half of the Wednesday Night series just like the first half, with a VICTORY over a 16 boat fleet. Corrected time put Joy, Wild Thing, and Vaporize hot on his heels. I feel a little like Chicken Little with all the concern about yesterday's weather and how it might cancel racing. Ha! Just as it always does at Lake George, more times than not, it cleared and turned out to be a great evening for racing and a perfect night for our Mid-series party in the LGC Grotto, sponsored by Fleet 24. The party was a huge success. Great food from the kitchen and the service behind the bar was the best! I've attached photos below.
 
The race course was a W1½ starting at the Hog Back Reef marker, upwind to a buoy off the west shore. The wind went south at the start and put everyone on a reach to the mark. You had to keep a look out for the J/80, the Viper, and Crackerjack heading right back at the rest of us as they came back down on a broader reach.  A lot of inside-overlaps were called at the mark but everyone rounded without incident. Some J/22s put up their chutes in the reach downwind but the J/24s used their big genoas to keep right with the leaders. Twice Spirit put Double Trouble on the outside rounding the marks but single-handed as Paul Reece normally sails, made a wide rounding on the last mark, keeping his speed up, and left many of us (me) struggling to get moving again. Double Trouble ended up with his best finish of the year so far at 6th place. Nice job. It ended up to be a throw-out 13 for me!
