The 35th Annual Lake George Ticonderoga Race

Sponsored by the Lake George Corinthian Yacht Club

The Lake George Corinthian Yacht Club’s Lake George Ticonderoga Race is open to all eligible sailboats. Membership in the LGCYC is not required. The race starts at 9:30 am just off Yankee Boating Center in Diamond Point. Sailing Instructions will be distributed at Registration on Friday, June 13, 2008 and will be posted at www.lake-george.com/tirace/

The Y-Knot Challenge

The Lake George Ticonderoga Race is a fund-raising event in support of Y-Knot Sailing, an accessible sailing program operating out of YMCA Camp Chingachgook that focuses on sailors with disabilities.

Individual yachts are encouraged to seek sponsorship for their participation in the race.

Rules & Scoring

The Lake George/Ticonderoga Race will be governed by the rules as defined by in the 2005-2008 Racing Rules of Sailing, prescriptions of U.S. Sailing, except as modified by this Notice and the Sailing Instructions.

The “Time on Time” method of the PHRF handicap system will be used to calculate each boat’s corrected time and order of finish.

Fleets

There will be a Green (monohull spinnaker) Fleet, a Yellow (monohull non-spinnaker) Fleet, a Red (multi-hull) Fleet and a Blue (Sprint Race) Fleet. The four fleets will sail courses varying in length from approximately nine to 45 miles as described in the Sailing Instructions.

Eligibility

All yachts must be sound with all equipment in place and in good, safe working condition and conform to all Federal, State and Local regulations and sailing class requirements. Captains are solely responsible for the safety of their crew and boat.

Waste Disposal

Disposal or discharge of waste into Lake George, human or otherwise, is illegal and will be considered misconduct under RRS Part 5, in addition to any fines and/or penalties as prescribed by the Lake George Park Commission, Warren County Sheriff’s Department and U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Please make checks payable to the LGCYC.

All fees are payable upon registration and include the cookout on Friday evening, the post-”Sprint Race” party on Saturday and refreshments at the awards ceremony on Sunday.

Saturday, June 14
9:00 am: Committee boat on station
9:25 am: Warning Signal
9:30 am: Race Start
4:00 pm: Post “Sprint Race” party at Yankee Boating Center
Sunday, June 15
2:00 pm: Awards ceremony at Yankee Boating Center
